Tampa Bay Heart Institute Implants First Wireless Monitoring Pacemaker in Pinellas CountySt. Petersburg , September 28, 2009 -- Tampa Bay Heart Institute is pleased to announce the implantation of the first wireless monitoring cardiac pacemaker in Pinellas County. This new device offers enhanced safety and reliability and allows constant remote monitoring from a physicians office. Remote monitoring technology enables the daily transmission of patient data to physicians so that physicians are able to closely monitor the patients progress without the patient having to come to the office. The key benefit of this revolutionary device is a remote alerts set up which will provide the physician with a more prompt notification of changes in device and patient disease status. If a patient begins to experience arrhythmia or any other cardiac distress, the device will notify the physicians office immediately, allowing for timely diagnosis and treatment. The Tampa Bay Heart Institute is pleased to offer this cutting edge technology at both Largo Medical Center and Northside Hospital campuses. ### The Tampa Bay Heart Institute (TBHI) at Northside Hospital was founded to apply evidence-based therapies to heart care from prevention to diagnosis to intervention, and to provide the hightest level of care and complexity for adult heart patients. TBHI was born out of need to treat more complex patients. Initially starting at Northside Hospital, Tampa Bay Heart Institute expanded to Largo Medical Center, joining two of Pinellas Countys leading heart programs. |
