Tampa Bay Heart Institute Implants First Wireless Monitoring Pacemaker in Pinellas County

St. Petersburg, September 28, 2009 --  Tampa Bay Heart Institute is pleased to announce the implantation of the first ‘wireless’ monitoring cardiac pacemaker in Pinellas County. This new device offers enhanced safety and reliability and allows constant remote monitoring from a physician’s office. Remote monitoring technology enables the daily transmission of patient data to physicians so that physicians are able to closely monitor the patient’s progress without the patient having to come to the office.

The key benefit of this revolutionary device is a remote alerts set up which will provide the physician with a more prompt notification of changes in device and patient disease status. If a patient begins to experience arrhythmia or any other cardiac distress, the device will notify the physician’s office immediately, allowing for timely diagnosis and treatment.
